More News from the PPA

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

In more news on the legalizing of poker online, the Poker Players Alliance today announced it will drop a fundraising “money bomb” in July. The PPA, the leading Everest Poker online into a grassroots advocacy group with more than one million members nationwide, seeks to raise additional funds leading up to a crucial vote this summer on legislation to license and regulate online poker. A money bomb is when a poker online organizationasks all of its members and supporters to make a financial donation – of any amount – to the group on one specific day. The PPA hopes to raise $50,000. “We would not be where we are today without the support and dedication of the poker community. Yet, there is much more to be done to assure that every American has the right to enjoy a game of poker from their computer, in a casino or at their kitchen table,” said Former Senator Alfonse D’Amato, chairman of the PPA. “This unique fundraising effort is another way for our members and all players to demonstrate to lawmakers the broad support for online poker, while at the same time helping PPA continues its advocacy efforts.” As a reminder to donate players can visit www.pokermoneybomb.com to download the event to their calendars. Even if individuals are not members of the PPA, they are able to donate for this drive and will not be required to become a member.

Sky Lanterns for Joyful Moments

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Sky Lanterns are the must-have party decoration nowadays, gone are the days where you could plainly tie up a few balloons and set out few elaborate starters to lighten up an occassion.

If you celebrate at home for birthdays, organise company events or have a wedding party to set up, friends anticipate more therefore it is up to you to produce the ‘wow’ factor and make their event the one that will be distinct from the rest. Thus, sky lanterns come into the picture. Sky Lanterns are harmless and simple to work with and look gorgeous at all moments during the day as well as night.

Words are inadequate to describe their effect, you really have to see it to believe it. Some people describe them as glowing wishes in the sky and others call them the romantic alternative to fireworks. You can label them differently however you can be confident they are like nothing you have ever seen before.

Sky lanterns are extensively used in weddings. More than ever, brides to be are continually hunting for ways to increase the beauty of their wedding and at the moment are turning to Sky Lanterns to help them achieve this. Sky lanterns should be used at the end of the reception party when they look most beautiful. If possible arrange your relatives and friends into a wide open outdoor area and provide them a lantern (one for each couple) to light and let go, it really makes for an unforgettable finale to your special day.

Relatives and friends love it when they are involved directly with generating the visual spectacular. Brace yourself to hear lots of ooohs and ahhhs from everyone!

Min Betting as a Lure

Friday, June 11th, 2010

A common practice particularly at lower level stakes of poker online games is to see players making literally the minimum raise. At a .25/.50 game they will pop it from early position even up to just a dollar, making it hardly a raise at all but a pot builder. They will also perform this motion after the flop, when someone bets out half of the pot or so, they will return with a reraise that just doubles that bet, making it never a raise you can fold to, and often one you want to reraise.

In this way, the latter of the two options, this tactic can actually work out well for a poker player who wants to appear inexperienced. So often I’ve flopped a monster and instead of doing the obvious slow play check and then raise, I’ll bet so small it almost infuriates the opponent into reraising, assuming that because you bet weak, you must be weak.

I’ve found, though, that when the truly inexperienced poker players do this slow bet, they often at least have some kind of hand. Calling down might be cheap, but you might need to be able to beat top pair with a decent kicker, or better.

Few possible window treatments that can fit snug against the French doors are the roller shades with the standard roll option as well as one inch wood blinds. One more very concern with decorating the French doors is how often that you can be adjusting blinds or else shades. Hold ‘Em Tyranny

Friday, March 19th, 2010

The past decade has witness Texas Hold ‘Em online poker skyrocket in popularity, mainly due to televised tournaments with famous names competing for big stakes. It has been the engine that has driven so many new players to online sites and into casino poker rooms. Will Texas Hold ‘Em poker online retain its rule as the “Cadillac of poker” as Doyle Brunson referred to the game? It’s often hard to find a seat at any other kind of game in today’s poker rooms where the demand for Hold ‘Em is high against other games that have grown more obscure. Fads come and go though, and it’s likely the gaming public will at some point grow bored with Hold ‘Em poker and seek out new challenges. For live room players, it gets monotonous to continually go up against the same players in the same game. That being said, it’s good to branch out and learn other variations of poker so you can sharpen your skills in other formats. It gives you more choice at which games to choose at online sites and in rooms where games other than Hold ‘Em are spread. Just for a change of pace, learn the rules and try your hand at other games, such as Omaha Hold ‘Em, Omaha High/Low, Seven Card Stud, Five Card Draw and Five Card Stud. Seek out these games at sites that offer free or ‘play money’ games where you can learn the basics and practice without any real risk to your bank roll. Be becoming a more rounded player, you’ll sharpen your Hold ‘Em game too.

Here Is More Good News in the Effort to Legalize

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Here is more good news in the effort to legalize online poker around the world.

The French National Assembly approved, by a count of 302-206, the bill to liberalize and regulate online gaming (including online poker) in France. The bill now passes on to the Senate for further debate.

The bill would end the domination of online gambling by France’s two state monopolies: Pari-Mutuel Urbain (PMU) for horse racing, and Francais des Jeux for lotteries and other games, and allow privately owned websites to offer casino online, and betting on sports and horse racing. Under the proposed law, state-owned Francaise des Jeux would still retain its monopoly over Lotto. Also. bets on games considered too addictive and lacking in an element of skill, like one-armed bandits, would not be allowed.

Eric Woerth, the budget minister who was the architect of the bill, has said the state made over 5 billion euros (4.6 billion pounds) per year from gambling on the internet, at licensed cafes and at the racing tracks.

For years, France has been under pressure from the European Union and from private gaming firms and European gaming associations to open up their market worth billions of euros to competition.

Chips Are Real Money

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

There are a few things that we , as regular online poker players, tend to forget. One of these things is the idea that online poker chips actually represent real money. We all know that on a conceptual level the chips represent the hours that we toil away at our nine to five jobs doing what we need to do to fund our game, but do you ever really stop to think about that in the heat of the moment? This would be an apt moment to bring up televised poker online shows that have gotten us to think in terms of large chip stacks, or online poker games that convert our cash to something that we never even get to hold, but it is not enough to blame others for our lack of consideration for the humble chip. Next time you play poker, whether you play a digital game or one on a classic green felt, think about the meaning of those chips before you through them into the pot. Would you be as willing to go all-in if you realized the purchasing power of those chips. The stack that you are so willing to waste on a bluff could be a fine dining experience, a trip to the movies, or that long coveted flat screen television.

Four "Do’s" and "Don’ts" when Adding "Odds" Games to Your Bingo Program

Friday, February 5th, 2010

If you’ve decided to add some “Odds” games to your bingo program, below are a few “Do’s” and “Don’ts” to consider before you begin.

DO make sure you consult a bingo odds chart before you try anything too tricky.

A bingo odds chart will break down all of the statistics and probabilities for you. Want to know how many numbers on average it will take to bingo with a letter “X” pattern with 100 people playing 12 bingo cards each? An odds chart will break this down for you, as well as, most other commonly played bingo patterns.

Odds charts can be difficult to find, so if you’d like some help, contact Wholesale Bingo Supplies and talk to one of our bingo experts.

DON’T make the “odds” game prizes impossible to win.

Bingo players will usually have a feel for how long it will take a person to bingo on their bingo paper on a given pattern, so don’t make your “odds” games impossible to win. For instance, don’t offer a prize on a bingo coverall if a player wins in 30 numbers or less, because no one will ever win that and your players will know that. If you make the chances of winning too extreme, your players will become disenchanted. Even long shots should hit every now and then, even if it’s only once a year.

DO pay attention to your state’s or region’s maximum legal prize payouts.

However, unlikely, it is possible for a number of “odds” games to pay off during a single bingo session. Make sure that a lucky day for your bingo players doesn’t turn into an unlucky day and a rules violation for your bingo. Be sure that your bingo program has no chance to exceed your legal prize payout maximum.

DON’T go crazy trying these games

Our advice with most bingo programs is to go slowly and make some small changes first. Test the waters a little before changing up your game entirely. You want to give yourself some wiggle room in case further changes come to mind.

Getting Lucky with Rediculous Hands

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Sometimes at the poker online table, when things aren’t going your way and it seems like nothing you do is working at the casino, you get desperate and make some stupid move. And occasionally, miraculously, that move pays off. I was playing recently, at a famous, well-known casino on the east coast of the United States. It was one of the worst sessions I can remember having. It started off okay, I won two pots with timely bluffs, but after that everything went downhill. None of my bluffs were working; I tried playing good hands, bad hands, raising our of position to confuse people, anything really, and it wasn’t working. It was quite frustrating. So, at one point I decided I wasn’t going to see my chips stack whittled away slowly, I and was just going to go for it. I decided that the next person who raised, I was going to re raise them all in without even looking at my hand. I know, it sounds incredibly dumb, and it probably is. But at the time I was thinking, you know what nothing else is working so I might as well go for blind luck. So the next hand someone raised in front of me, and I reraised all in. I turned over my cards and was dismayed to see a 2-8. Oh well, I thought, today isn’t my day. To make matters worse, my opponent, who called for some reason, had a 10-8! Why would he call my reraise with a 10-8?? Well, it didn’t matter, he did. Anyway, all of us at the poker table had a big chuckles when the flop came 8-2-J. The turn and river were blanks and my ridiculous hand had held up. Like I always say, it’s better to be lucky than good.
