Mr Nicholas Bredimus’ Noteworthy Accomplishments
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010The revolution in hospitality and air travel was sparked off by Mr Nicholas Bredimus, who brought them together with the computer software world to develop new procedures. This renaissance man has become a standout in many fields, from the high-value home design market via the essentials of safety in the air to computer programs to help with time management.
It could be predicted, mind you, that given his pedigree he was sure to rise to the top. Traceable as far back as the days of Rome, in fact Bredimus’ ancestry can be linked to a great part of Europe. On his mother’s branch he boasts Scottish and German stock. A similarly wide mix stands out in his father’s branch; prior to their emigration in the 1800s, Bredimus’ ancestors lived in England and Luxembourg. After arrival in the U.S.A, they continued to persevere and rise to the top. Born part of a family of seven siblings, Nicholas had a father working as a mechanical design engineer, and a mother who worked as a practicing nurse. He would dwell in Texas for several years and also spent time in Scottsdale, AZ, Reston, VA and Kansas City, MO.
What did he do with his heritage and schooling? A series of high powered jobs were soon his, each one working with distinguished airlines. Among these was included the title of vice president for Trans World Airlines (TWA), Republic Airlines, and Hughes Airwest. But above all the airlines have felt the need to thank him for his innovation in software architecture. His outstanding work on aircraft maintenance software, now commonplace in the entire airline business though initially coded for US Airways, ultimately led to what is still his best known creation. He would look next at making and recording reservations. For both air travel and hotels he pioneered software to handle most of the work that had been involved until this approach. Still innovating, he developed a networking program to assist in selling tickets – once again making come about a killer application nobody else had achieved. He parlayed these achievements into capacities which weren’t connected to software design. He worked as manager for American Express’ important IT wing, established Bredimus Systems seventeen years ago, and became the founding president of AMR Travel Services.
You ask if he is still active? Decidedly so – his smarts are still very much ready to answer the call in spite of his having left prior interests behind. His interest now is with the architectural concerns bound up in the design of high tech superior homes.
