Against the popular belief the main cause of lice is head to head transfer through shared combs, towels and even through head hats. So the first remedy should be to use our own paraphernalia used on head. Head lice have been traditionally tackled with the help of several Home remedies. One of them is the pungent sulfur found in the onion juice. For this we need to extract the juice of an onion and apply this onion juice in the scalp of the head, massaging slowly at the hair roots. Let this juice remain in the hair for three to four hours. The pungent sulfur content of the onion juice will kill the parasite in the hair. Then we need to rinse the hair with water and shampoo to remove the dead lice. In order to get rid of the nits we need to do this treatment for a few days in a row as the eggs are more resistant to sulfur than the adults.
We can also wash the hair with vinegar mixed with water- this will kill the lice in two days. Subsequently coconut oil can be used as conditioner. The contents of Listerine Antiseptic Mouthwash can also help get rid the lice if rubbed on the head. Essential contents like eucalyptol, thymol, menthol, methyl salicylate and alcohol found in the mouthwash can help eradicate the lice as well. If scalped is messaged using the chopped apple for half an hour or so can also eliminate lice from the hair. Application of Vaseline can also suffocate the lice but the only drawback is that it is difficult to wash. We can use corn flour before washing which will facilitate its removal. Use of blow dryer can also help remove the nits and washing with hot water could kill the lice in contact.
